This session explains how Trump Accounts work, who qualifies, the current rules of contributions and distributions, and how to ensure eligible children are registered correctly for the pilot program. We’ll focus on practical client conversations and compliance, including which families should consider opening accounts, how to coordinate contributions with employers or philanthropies, what documents to retain and what to watch for as final regulations roll out.
Objectives
Upon completion of this session, you will be able to:
- Identify which children qualify for the federal seed deposit and processes, such as completing Form 4547, Trump Account Election(s)
- Apply current contribution limits and sourcing rules, including parent/family caps, employer contribution rules and how government/philanthropic deposits affect (or don’t affect) annual limits.
- Explain the tax treatment of earnings and distributions under Notice 2025-68 guidance
- Compare Trump Accounts to alternative child-savings vehicles
