In this session, we will discuss how to interview a client and help them with financial disclosure and making estimated payments. The ultimate goal is to change the client's ways and get them into compliance, then make a presentation to the IRS for resolution.
Objectives
Upon completion of this session, you will be able to:
- Establish an outline of initial interview questions to determine the client's current compliance status and past timeline
- Explain the importance of compliance in a representation case to a client
- Pull out a basic financial statement from a taxpayer
- Complete IRS Forms 2848 or 8821 for a new representation client
- Evaluate where the client is in the IRS collection process through understanding basic letters
